Charging a Car Battery
Before recharging a dead car battery, refer to the battery charger instructions and your vehicle manual for safety precautions and proper directions first. Keep these general charging tips in mind:
- Wear proper eye and skin protection.
- Never allow anyone to smoke around a charging battery.
- Charge in well ventilated area where the battery is unlikely to be disturbed.
- Never attempt to charge a frozen battery.
- Unplug charger before connecting the battery.
- Always keep vent caps in place while charging.
- Place a wet cloth over battery and vent caps before charging.
- Be sure to observe proper polarity when connecting charger leads to the battery.
- Never touch the charger leads when the charger is ON.
